This post is a little out of the ordinary here, but if you could just bare with me until the end. Late last night, a close personal friend of mine named Sam lost everything when his apartment burned to the ground.
At 1 in the morning, Sam came home from a long night shift and walked into the door to find his house ablaze and only had time to yell for his brother Ryan and grab one important thing, his dog Leia and his brother’s dog Jack, before they ran from the smoke and flames into safety. The only thing he now has to his name is the work uniform on his back, a terrified Leia, and whatever happened to be in his pockets. Ryan didn’t even have time to grab his shoes or keys.
Imagine for a second that you’ve lost everything. You’re thanking God you’re alive, but at the same time frustrated because you have to build from the ground up again. Not just material things, but everyday essentials too. All of your food, clothing, toiletries – you name it, it’s gone. Starting over again is difficult enough before you can even think about the nerd essentials like tvs, consoles, video games, comic books, action figures. As fellow partners in the nerd community at large, we would ask that you help in any way that you can. Our nerd brethren need your help, even so much as a mere dollar would be incredibly appreciated. Imagine now that everyone who read this took a measley 5 minutes to donate just ONE DOLLAR to help out fellow nerds in need, how quickly that could add up and help these poor brothers and their poor pups out, and how much you would appreciate it if you were in their shoes.
I very rarely ask for anything personal, but if you could find it in your hearts to make some kind of contribution or donation for this family with nothing, it would mean a great deal.
The Internet is a wonderful thing, as it allows you to be able to help out your fellow nerds from millions of miles away with just the click of a button. Please take 5 more minutes of your time and click another button. Every single dollar helps in some way, whether it’s buying dog food or toothpaste, and if you’ve ever met Leia, you’d know she needs a lot of both those things. :] Thanks for your time. – Kimmie
